Mission
To advance the cause of global education by bringing together the best educators, with international business and foundations, to complete multinational educational projects.
The initiative is called ‘The Global Education Foundation’ the group wishes to build an NGO that can reach out globally to all. It has been launched by a group of senior educators within Europe who have worked and networked together over a number of years on educational projects. The foundation will be looking to effect real changes in education by:
§ Knowledge transference
§ Knowledge comparison
§ Cross-fertilization and pollinization
§ Innovation and technology
The foundation will achieve these missions by:
§ Carrying out education projects based on international partnerships
§ Educational knowledge transference and comparison, to and from, developed and developing nations
§ Cross-fertilization and cross-pollinization across national boundaries
§ Combine the efficiencies of business with the genius of experienced educators
Challenges
There are rapid and increasing changes in education today due to;
§ The intervention and need for technology
§ Globalization leading to increasing competition
§ Funding and prioritization pressures
§ Growing inequality of access to and resources for education
§ Increasing pressure for a highly trained, specialized and professional workforce
These needs are not equally evident in every country but every country faces these challenges in differing degrees.
Government struggles with pressured budgets to face these challenges and many educators often have the will, but not the means, to contribute effectively.
One of the directions that some governments, have tried to harness the pent-up genius and experience of their educators, is by creating, project-based, initiatives.
What are Educational Projects?
Projects that bring together educators and business will combine the strengths of both sectors. They will add the efficiency and financial acumen of the corporate world to the experience and understanding of seasoned educators.
Projects built on these two planks will build strong and innovative bridges for the youth of the world to build better and more equitable futures. The projects will bridge existing political, cultural and sectorial restrictions with only one mission, to better education for all, irrespective of place, race or gender. In addition educators involved or touched by the projects, will gain experience and capabilities for life.
Today the Foundation has gained the support of 1,100 educators in 91 countries. These range from University Rectors to Professors, Adult educators to Kindergarten teachers.
